Cottonwood and Native Shrub Planting - April 8

What: Community Project – Cottonwood and Native Shrub Planting 
Project Site: South Boulder Creek Area
When: 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Saturday, April 8
Parking/Registration: Cherryvale Trailhead, 66 S Cherryvale Rd. Volunteers will be shuttled to project site. Please note that this location will not appear on your confirmation email when you sign-up, it will appear as 'To Be Determined'. You will need to click on the description link for the project and location details. 
 
Project
Join OSMP to assist with planting hundreds of cottonwood trees and native shrubs such as coyote willows, chokecherries and American plums. Volunteers will learn how to plant trees and why this type of management is being completed. Restoration specialists will teach the importance healthy riparian areas for our water ways.
 
Project Difficulty 
Easy. Project will involve walking on uneven terrain, bending and lifting.
 
Preparation for the day, what you will need for the day:
--Two quarts of water or camel packs.
--Dress in layers.
--Work gloves.
--Sturdy boots (No lightweight shoes, or “five-finger” types of shoes.)
--Long pants.
--Rain jacket.
--A long sleeved T-shirt.
--Personal first aid kit, if you have one (OSMP will have a group first aid kit.)
--Backpack to carry personal items. 
--Sunglasses, hat and sunscreen.
--Clothing appropriate for weather conditions.
 
Dress appropriately for Colorado weather and to work in an outdoor setting off trail. If volunteers come unprepared, you will not be allowed on the project site. OSMP will provide lunch, extra water, gloves and safety gear. If you have questions contact Kristin at weinbergerk@bouldercolorado.gov or 303-910-5603.
