Boulder County Justice System Volunteer Programhttp://www.bouldercounty.org/volunteer/index.htm
Founded in 1961, this program is nationally recognized in the criminal justice field as a model for volunteer opportunities. JSVP recruits, screens and interviews volunteers for the District Attorney's Office, Community Justice Services, the Juvenile Assessment Center and Restoring Our Communities. There are many opportunities to have meaningful experiences in moving our community forward! Get involved as mentors; help assess high-risk youth; interview adult defendants to help determine community service work; be an advocate for crime victims; help people with consumer fraud complaints; teach life skills and other classes at the jail; assist with research on domestic abuse, work on arraignments with the DA's office, and more. Volunteers range from interns completing master's degree and senior level college degrees to established business and education professionals to retirees wanting to continue to give their time and talents to the community. Many volunteers go on to careers as attorneys, social workers and criminal justice professionals.
